Assalamualaikum to all,
Hope everyone is in the best of health, insyaAllah.
Every year, I organise a Ramadhan Jumble Sale for the under-privileged families. We gather used, good clothes from our friends and families(plenty in our wardrobe that can actually be donated) and cash from some generous individuals. The cash is used to buy items that cannot be recycled like girls' and boy's under pants, school socks and very much overlooked things like girls' telekungs, sejadahs and songkoks for the boys.
This year, instead of having the sale at the i-Sina school (where most poor folks couldn't make it since they have no transport), we are planning to have it in GPM (Global Peace Mission Malaysia), an NGO under ABIM's rented premise in the heart of Kampung Kerdas 2, Batu5 Gombak. FYI, there are many poor families residing in these kampungs such as Kampung Changkat, Kerdas 1 to 6 all the way to Kg Orang Asli Batu 12.
The details of the sale are as follows:
Date: August 29th, 2010 ( 19 Ramadhan) - SUNDAY
Time: 10 am to 4 pm
Venue: Kg Kerdas 2, Gombak.
Clothes will be sold from the price of 20 sen to RM5.00 at most. Most clothes will fall in the range of 20 sen to RM1 only. The prices enforced are to ensure no certain individuals take more than what's necessary, hence making sure others have the same chances of purchase. There will be a "free box" where all clothes unfit to be sold are placed into and anyone can take anything from it for free, eg: school clothes, t-shirt sand tudungs. All newly purchased items (from the cash donated) are controlled items, whereby one person can only make a limited purchase.
After the sale, at approximately 4.00pm onwards on the SAME DAY, all leftover clothes will be given away for FREE.
I am then seeking individuals to kindly donate any used but still in good condition (either adults or children) clothes, especially ones fit for the Eid Celebration. Anyone who wishes to do so may contact me personally and we can try to arrange for pickups.
I am also looking for anyone to donate food items such as rice, biscuits and flour to give away to those poor families very short on food supplies for Ramadhan and the coming Eid in Gombak area.
Money raised from the jumble sale (which normally will not be much since sales is from only 20 sen) will be given to GPM to cover all cost incurred in managing the event. This is a non-profitable effort.
Thank you all for your time. Please do not hesitate to forward any questions. Have a beautiful Ramadhan ahead and may Allah bestow HIS Blessings to all of us.
